Denver's best-kept smash burger secret - a pop-up born from a kitchen fire, now heading to a permanent home. House-ground brisket-chuck blend, house-made buns, and the tangy gold sauce that King of Wings built its reputation on.

Snipeburger didn't start as a plan - it started as survival. When a kitchen fire shut down King of Wings in Wheat Ridge on December 20, 2021, owners Eddie Renshaw and Evan Pierce rolled flat-top grills onto the patio to keep staff paid and the doors open. The burger they developed during that stretch - inspired by Carl's Drive-In back home in St. Louis - turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to them. Snipeburger officially launched as a Saturday pop-up in April 2022, and it hasn't stopped growing since.
The Snipeburger is built from house-ground brisket and chuck, smashed ultra-thin until the edges go lacy and caramelized - the Midwest way. House-made buns and King of Wings' tangy gold sauce make it a concept you can't replicate anywhere else in Denver. Stack it double (the standard), triple, quad, or push it all the way to the six-patty Hex. Westword called them 'lacy-edged, Midwest-style smash burgers' and included them in the definitive Best Burgers in Denver guide; four years and two pop-up locations later, Denver has agreed.
Lacy-edged, Midwest-style smash burgers inspired by Carl's Drive-In - ultra-thin and caramelized patties topped with American cheese, sautéed onions, pickles and King of Wings' tangy gold sauce.
The popularity of the Snipeburger understudy proved too strong, and now the burger - featuring the tangy gold wing sauce - is a regular Wednesday special at the Golden outpost.
Snipe Burger has built a dedicated following through word of mouth and Reddit threads - a well-seasoned patty and toppings that hit all the right notes.
It's not super-heavy. It's got crispy edges on the sides, but it's juicy and cheesy inside. We're using our tangy gold sauce from King of Wings, and it's just so good on there.
Customers soon lined up around the building to grab one. Rather than let it die once King of Wings reopened, they kept Snipeburger as a popup.
The burgers are built from a double patty up to a six-patty stack called the Hex, made from a blend of brisket and chuck that is ground in-house, with house-made buns.
