Babcock's Grove House opened in 2016 inside a limestone building that dates to 1858 - one of DuPage County's oldest surviving structures, originally constructed as a hotel. Owners Steve and Dana Moreau named the restaurant after 'Babcock's Grove,' the original settler name for what became Lombard and Glen Ellyn. The kitchen runs on a no-freezer, no-microwave, all-scratch philosophy using local and seasonal ingredients, and the Smashed Potato Burger has become the signature draw.
The Smashed Potato Burger stacks a 1/3 pound Allen Bros. ground chuck patty - premium antibiotic-free beef - with sharp cheddar and the kitchen's own buttermilk mashed potatoes on toasted brioche.
