Motz's has been serving hand-smashed sliders in Detroit's Delray neighborhood since 1929, making it one of the longest-running continuous smashburger operations in the country. The Milosavljevski family took over in the mid-1990s and maintained the core technique.

The classic slider keeps it simple: thin smashed beef, onions cooked directly into the meat, and mustard-ketchup-pickle balance on a soft local bun. The method predates the modern smashburger cycle by decades.
