Red Barn Burgers opened in December 2024 at the Old Mill Antique Mall in Mullica Hill, NJ - a pre-Revolutionary War grist mill complex that's as much destination as address. The restaurant is the latest chapter for Chef David Wiederholt, a CIA-trained chef who cooked at Union Square Cafe, Barclay Prime, and the James Beard House before turning his attention to a five-burger menu that won First Place at the Philly Burger Brawl. The name changed from 322 BBQ; the chef and the ethos didn't.
Every burger starts with fresh-ground Hereford heritage-breed beef - a triple blend of brisket, chuck, and short rib - smashed into thin patties on a scorching-hot griddle for maximum caramelization. The result is the aggressive sear and lacy edges that define a great smash burger, anchored by a proprietary Barn sauce and served on toasted Martin's Famous Potato Rolls. The Bacon Barn Burger (a.k.a. the D&S Burger) is the Philly Burger Brawl First Place winner, built with crispy bacon and a bacon-onion-blue-cheese spread that channels the chef's fine dining instincts into a $16 package.
