Dallas's definitive smashburger, declared "without a doubt the best burger in Dallas" by the Dallas Observer, validated by Texas Monthly, and backed by sustained pop-up-to-brick-and-mortar demand.

Burger Schmurger started in a backyard during the pandemic, when Dave Culwell began smashing burgers for friends and quickly built a loyal local following through pop-ups across Dallas. That momentum carried into a permanent opening at 718 N. Buckner Blvd in April 2025.
The Schmurger's defining move is pressing shaved yellow onions directly into the raw beef before the smash. That process builds flavor into the patty as it forms a thin, crisp, caramelized crust. American cheese, house-brined pickles, and house sauce complete a focused, high-execution build on a toasted Mrs. Baird's bun.
Editorial coverage from Dallas Observer, Texas Monthly, and D Magazine, plus consistent consumer demand at the new location, support Burger Schmurger's current Certified Smash standing.
