Owners Sarah Brick and Teddy Harris opened The Leavitt Street Inn & Tavern in August 2020, converting Mickey's Tavern into a neighborhood gathering spot inside a historic 1907 Bucktown building. The concept pairs a tavern with three upstairs guest rooms for a local-stay experience.
Food service centered around the L. St. Smash, a double smashburger built from two 1/3-pound 80/20 Angus chuck patties. Chicago Magazine later ranked it #1 in their citywide burger quest, and multiple outlets highlighted its char level, house pickles, and sauce balance.
The result is a tavern burger with broad editorial coverage, strong community momentum, and a profile that keeps growing in Chicago's live rankings.
The meat is seared, with crispy edges, and seasoned right up to that edge of too much... it's perfect.

It is seriously so damn delicious, about as close to perfection as you can get. Arguably the best burger sauce I have ever tasted.
This corner bar is commonly mentioned when the city's best smashed burgers are discussed. The patties are smashed to perfection and a bit larger than typical.
The smashburger is the biggest draw of all... The absolute best smashed burger I have ever had.
