Golden Tiger opened in 2018 on the patio of Whisler's cocktail bar on East 6th Street, founded by co-owner Jamee Miller and partner - two cooks who branched off on their own with a menu of smashburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and loaded fries. The food truck became a fixture of Austin's East Side nightlife, serving until 1:30am and drawing in crowds looking for something serious to eat alongside Whisler's cocktails.
The Golden Burger arrives as a double by default - two thin beef patties smashed hard onto a flat-top for edge-to-edge sear, American cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles, red onions, and a house-made special sauce that reviewers consistently single out as the standout element. The Infatuation called it "one of our favorite burgers in Austin," noting the double format as "our preferred arrangement for a smashburger." The location on Whisler's patio makes pairing it with an Old Fashioned one of the more satisfying late-night moves in East Austin.

Golden Tiger is located on the patio of Whisler's, and we couldn't be more grateful. This burger does a perfect job of soaking up a couple of Old Fashioneds at the end of a night out on the East Side.
Everything works great together, and you can enjoy it all with an excellent cocktail from the bar at Whisler's.
