Dalton's Cheeseburgs opened May 6, 2022 as the food concept inside RiNo Country Club - Denver's $10-membership golf dive bar at 3763 Wynkoop St. Named after Patrick Swayze's character in Road House, Dalton's set out to bring an 'East Coast attitude' to the Denver smash burger scene: Martin's Potato Rolls from Pennsylvania, Cooper Sharp American cheese, house-ground chuck, and a proprietary 7 Hour Sauce that goes into every order. By June 2026, Westword's definitive Best Burgers in Denver guide gave Dalton's a standalone entry - calling out its single patty as uniquely satisfying in a city full of smashburgers that require the double.
Dalton's is one of the only smashburger spots in Denver where the single patty actually satisfies - Westword specifically called this out in the June 2026 Best Burgers guide. The house-ground chuck blend is dialed in for the griddle: you get the lacy, caramelized edges of a true smash, but with enough thickness for a meaty bite. Cooper Sharp, a tangy Pennsylvania cheese almost never found in Denver, replaces the standard American and changes the flavor profile in a way you notice. The Martin's Potato Roll - toasted bottom, steamed top - holds everything together without getting in the way.
Most smashburgers require getting a double so that you can actually taste the meat. Not so at Dalton's Cheeseburgs, where the smashburger has all the crispy crunchiness you'd expect from the griddle-fried patty, it's also thick enough for a meaty bite without necessitating an extra layer.
Legitimately one of the better smashburger spots in Denver right now - crispy, lacy edges where the beef hits the griddle hard, with a soft interior that doesn't dry out.
The cheeseburger itself was iconic. A simple smash. Waffle fries. Ketchup. It's exactly what I want when I'm craving a cheeseburger. Our entire crew absolutely devoured our meals and then talked about this place for weeks after.
The smash burger is about as good as it gets, and the perfect pairing [with the waffle fries]. The waffle fries switched to beef tallow with their own spice mix and 'leave them in a little too long' for a perfect and addictive crispness.
Dalton's is located inside the RiNo Country Club. While the place is very divey, the cheeseburgers are 100% worth it, and you should ignore the cramped and crowded bar to eat one of the best burgers of your life.
A pretty solid smash burger. The fries are quite delicious. The burger was flavorful and tasty. I have seen burgers and fries in this area costing over $20 so $14 seems like a great deal.
The burgers are delicious but pretty pricey for what they are. While the burgers are great, not something I would go out of my way for.
